Bride Appears for Group-2 Exam with Jeelakarra Bellam on Her Head

The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has commenced the Group-2 Mains examinations across the state amid controversies and confusion. The exams are being conducted at 175 centers, with 92,250 candidates expected to appear. APPSC had already made all necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the examinations.
However, an unusual sight at one of the exam centers drew significant attention. A newlywed bride, with jeelakarra bellam (a traditional wedding ritual paste) still on her head, arrived to take the exam in her bridal attire. The incident took place at Padmavathi Women's Degree College examination center in Tirupati. The bride, Namitha, a resident of Tirupati, had gotten married earlier that morning. Since her exam was scheduled for the same day, she went directly to the exam center in her wedding attire, with family and friends cheering her on and wishing her luck.
Meanwhile, there have been protests by candidates across various parts of the state demanding the postponement of the Group-2 Mains examination. The candidates argued that the errors in the roster system needed correction before proceeding with the examination. Responding to these concerns, the state government requested APPSC to postpone the exam.
However, APPSC clarified that due to the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct for the MLC elections, it could not make any decisions that might benefit graduates. As a result, the commission decided to conduct the examination as per the originally scheduled date.
