Anagani Satya Prasad Announces Land Allocation Under "Houses for All" Scheme

Andhra Pradesh Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad announced that under the "Houses for All" scheme, rural beneficiaries will receive three cents of residential land, while urban beneficiaries will receive two cents. He made this statement in response to questions raised by YSR Congress Party MLCs Rajasekhar and Hanumantha Rao in the Legislative Council regarding the distribution of house site pattas to the poor. The minister revealed that a total of 70,232 applications had been received for house site allotment so far. He also emphasized that while the previous government had provided only one cent of land, the current administration is offering two to three cents.
Anagani Satya Prasad criticized the previous government's "Jagananna Housing Scheme," calling it a massive scam. He alleged that house site pattas were unfairly distributed to party workers, affluent individuals, government employees, and close associates of the ruling party at the time. He further accused the previous administration of large-scale irregularities in land purchases.
The minister claimed that non-residential lands, including dumping yard sites, flood-prone areas, burial grounds, and other unsuitable plots, were acquired at highly inflated prices. He alleged that the government had spent ₹10,500 crore to purchase 26,000 acres of private land and that a significant portion of these funds was misappropriated by YSR Congress Party leaders and workers.
