Speaker Ayyannapatrudu Clarifies Jagan's Opposition Status in Assembly
In a crucial announcement in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, Speaker Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu addressed the issue of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's opposition status. Jagan Mohan Reddy has previously stated that he would only attend the Assembly if he is granted the status of Leader of the Opposition. He argued that holding this position would allow him more opportunities to speak in the House.

Responding to this, Speaker Ayyannapatrudu clarified in the Assembly that, according to the law, a party must have at least 18 MLAs to qualify for the status of the opposition. He alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy was making misleading statements regarding this matter. The Speaker further stated that accusing the Speaker of malintent constitutes a violation of Assembly rules.

"Jagan Mohan Reddy is knowingly making false claims," Ayyannapatrudu remarked. He added, "We are forgiving and letting him go," and dismissed Jagan Mohan Reddy’s statements as mere ramblings.
