Telangana MLC Elections: Dasoju Sravan to Contest from BRS
With today being the last day for filing nominations for the Telangana MLC elections under the MLA quota, major political parties have finalized their candidates. The opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has confirmed Dasoju Sravan as its candidate.

Elections are being held for a total of five MLC seats. The ruling Congress party has announced candidates for three of these seats and allotted one seat to its ally, the Communist Party of India (CPI). Congress has nominated Addanki Dayakar, Shankar Naik, and Vijayashanti as its candidates. Meanwhile, BRS party chief and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has finalized Dasoju Sravan’s candidature.

Previously, in July 2023, during the BRS government’s tenure, Sravan was recommended for an MLC position under the Governor's quota, but then-Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan rejected the proposal due to technical reasons. Following this, Sravan approached the Telangana High Court over the matter.

For the current MLC elections under the MLA quota, multiple names from BRS were considered, but KCR favored Sravan for the position. Sravan is a senior leader within BRS and has previously served as a Politburo member and an official spokesperson for the party.
