Avanthi Srinivas's Daughter Resigns from YSRCP Amid Mayor Crisis in Vizag

The YSRCP suffered a significant jolt in Visakhapatnam as Muthamsetti Lakshmi Priyanka, the Corporator from the 6th Ward of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and daughter of former minister Avanthi Srinivas, tendered her resignation from the party.
This development comes at a crucial time, as the no-confidence motion against the YSRCP Mayor in the GVMC is approaching. Lakshmi Priyanka submitted her resignation letter to YSRCP President Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, citing personal reasons for her departure. In the letter, she expressed gratitude to the party for the support and opportunities it had provided her.
The timing of the resignation has caused considerable concern within the YSRCP ranks. The no-confidence motion against the GVMC Mayor has become a prominent issue in Andhra Pradesh's political landscape. After already losing control of several municipal corporations and municipalities, the YSRCP is determined not to relinquish its hold on the mayoral position in Visakhapatnam.
To prevent defections, the party had relocated its corporators from Visakhapatnam to other areas. With the motion nearing, the corporators were brought back to the city. However, shortly after returning to Visakhapatnam, Lakshmi Priyanka announced her resignation, intensifying fears within the YSRCP that more corporators might shift their allegiance to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
Meanwhile, prominent YSRCP leader from Uttar Andhra, Botsa Satyanarayana, strongly criticized the TDP. He alleged that despite lacking a majority in the GVMC, the TDP moved forward with the no-confidence motion against the Mayor. He stated that the YSRCP would counter the alleged conspiracies of the TDP.
