Delhi High Court Orders Rahman to Pay Rs. 2 Crores to Petitioner
Renowned music director A.R. Rahman faced a legal challenge in the Delhi High Court. The movie Ponniyan Selvan 2 , directed by Mani Ratnam, was released in 2023. The film stars Vikram, Ravi Mohan, Karthi, Trisha, and Aishwarya Rai, among others, in key roles, with A.R. Rahman composing the music.

The song "Vira Raja Vira" from this movie was alleged to have copied the tune of a Shivastuti song originally composed by Indian classical singer Faiyaz Wasifuddin Dagar's father Nasir Faiyazuddin Dagar and uncle Zahiruddin Dagar. Singer Fayaaz Wasifuddin Dagar approached the Delhi High Court regarding the matter. In a recent interim order in the case, the court has directed Rahman and the film's production company, Madras Talkies, to pay Rs. 2 crores to the petitioner and also give due credit to him in the movie.
