Andhra Government Extends Suspension of Ex-CID Chief Sunil Kumar
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has extended the suspension of former Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Chief P.V. Sunil Kumar by an additional four months. Official orders have been issued prolonging the suspension until August 28, based on the recommendations of a review committee.

P.V. Sunil Kumar is alleged to have traveled abroad multiple times without prior government approval. During the previous administration under the YSRCP, he reportedly undertook frequent foreign trips without obtaining necessary permissions from the government. Although he did secure approval on one or two occasions, it was found that he traveled to countries other than those for which approval had been granted.

The review committee report stated that all such trips were unauthorized. Specific instances were highlighted, including Sunil Kumar taking permission to travel to Georgia but instead flying directly to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). On another occasion, he is said to have informed authorities that he was visiting the United States but traveled to the United Kingdom instead.

The inquiry revealed that P.V. Sunil Kumar made such unauthorized foreign visits on at least six occasions during the YSRCP regime. In light of these findings, Chief Secretary K.S. Jawahar Reddy had previously suspended him. The suspension has now been formally extended.
