Balakrishna Receives Padma Bhushan Award
Renowned film actor and Hindupur Telugu Desam Party MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna has received the prestigious Padma Bhushan award. The honour was conferred upon him by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at the civil investiture ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the national capital, New Delhi. Nandamuri Balakrishna attended the event wearing the traditional Telugu attire of a panchekattu, becoming a notable presence at the ceremony. He was accompanied by members of his family.

It is already known that the Government of India had announced this Padma Bhushan award in recognition of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s distinguished contributions to Indian cinema and society. His work as an actor in the film industry, along with his services as Chairman of the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital, were taken into account in his selection for the award.

The son of the late Chief Minister and celebrated actor Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, Nandamuri Balakrishna entered the film industry as his successor. Over his long career, he has acted in more than one hundred films, earning a special place in the hearts of Telugu audiences. He continues to actively act in successive films, maintaining his energy and prominence on par with younger lead actors. Known for his performances in mass and action films, he has also impressed audiences with his portrayals in mythological, historical, and socially themed roles. In the past, he has received several awards including Filmfare and Nandi accolades.
