Rajasekhar Babu Highlights Use of AI and Drones for Crime Control in NTR District
Rajasekhar Babu, Commissioner of Police for NTR District, stated that advanced technology is being effectively utilized to safeguard law and order and control crime throughout NTR District, including Vijayawada city. He explained that technologies such as CCTV cameras, drones, and artificial intelligence (AI) are yielding better results in crime prevention.

Rajasekhar Babu said that the CCTV camera network established with the cooperation of the state government after 2014 is playing a crucial role in criminal investigations. He mentioned that thousands of cameras are being installed through community participation, and recently, with the support of the Member of the Legislative Assembly, CCTV cameras were installed in apartments in the West Constituency and in every village of the Jaggayyapeta Constituency. He noted that this is making it easier to prevent crimes and solve incidents, as well as to quickly resolve missing person cases and thefts.

He revealed that special emphasis is being placed on the use of drones in crime control and disclosed that, for the first time in the state, women drone pilots were trained for this purpose. Rajasekhar Babu explained that, with the support of donors, drones have been procured for all 28 police stations in the district. These drones are being used to monitor illegal activities such as cannabis and sand smuggling, as well as antisocial activities in open spaces, hills, and riverbanks, which are otherwise difficult to access.

Regarding traffic management, Rajasekhar Babu stated that AI-based cameras are being utilized, especially to ease the inconvenience faced by the public during VIP visits. He said that the "Green Channel Holding Time" project is monitoring the traffic holding time at junctions and that real-time traffic congestion is being analyzed through the "Astram" app to implement appropriate measures. He also mentioned that there are plans to introduce RFID tags to prevent bike thefts.

Rajasekhar Babu further explained that mobile security check devices such as "Papillon" are being used to establish a criminal database and collect fingerprints. Through the "NATGRID" system, access to various national databases is helping to apprehend old offenders and individuals with non-bailable warrants. He stated that awareness programs on cybercrimes are being conducted, especially targeting groups such as bankers. He expressed hope that policing will be further strengthened through the future use of AI.

Rajasekhar Babu added that police personnel are being provided with training on modern technologies, laptops are being distributed, and they are being encouraged to complete online courses through platforms like "CyTrain" and "iGOT Karmayogi."
