T-Works’ Maker Faire Hyderabad attracts thousands, becomes India’s largest maker event

Thousands flock to the T-Works campus to for experiences from welding and pottery to drone racing and robo wars

Hyderabad, December 18, 2023 –Maker Faire Hyderabad 2023, organised by T-Works and held on December 16th and 17th, emerged as a grand success, redefining the innovation landscape. Organized by India's largest prototyping center and supported by the Government of Telangana, the two-day extravaganza at the T-Works facility showcased the spirit of making and creativity, with over 30,000 enthusiasts registering for the event.

Mr. Jayesh Ranjan IAS, Principal Secretary ITE&C, expressed that the Maker Faire Hyderabad played a crucial role in nurturing the creative potential of Telangana's youth. He highlighted the event as a vital platform, stating, " Maker Faire Hyderabad equips our youth with the skills and confidence to become the problem-solvers and changemakers of tomorrow." In line with the global maker movement, the Hyderabad edition serves as a dynamic space for makers, tinkerers, and entrepreneurs to showcase creations and inspire each other. The event's impact on Telangana's innovation ecosystem is underscored by its wide endorsement, recognizing it as a breeding ground for the next generation of innovators. The emphasis on community building fosters an environment where participants learn from one another and build upon shared ideas.

Maker Faire Hyderabad bridges the gap by providing a unique opportunity for hands-on experiences in engineering, design, and technology workshops. “As a state, we are at the forefront, spearheading the maker culture across the nation.”, said Mr. Jayesh Ranjan. The two-day event witnessed unprecedented enthusiasm and engagement, featuring 112 diverse workshops that garnered full registrations even before the commencement. Attendees were captivated by the 18m tall mascot, Makey, symbolizing the magnitude of innovation on display.

Highlights included a fierce Robo Wars competition, a vibrant Cosplay competition spanning various age groups, an energetic Drum Jam session, and a thrilling RC Car Race on the second day. A drone race, live music performances, and a round table discussion with makerspaces from across the country added to the event's dynamic atmosphere. The program received support from corporates, community partners, and young volunteers from various colleges, crucial to its success. Participants included school kids, students, and parents who were excited about the event.
