Burra Venkatesham Appointed as the New Chairman of TGPSC

Senior IAS officer Burra Venkatesham has been appointed as the Chairman of the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC). Governor Jishnu Dev Varma  approved his appointment on Saturday. The current Chairman, M. Mahender Reddy, will complete his tenure on December 3, necessitating the selection of a new Chairman, for which the government recently issued a notification.

Applications for the position were accepted until November 20, with 45 applications received, including those from retired IAS officers and professors from various universities. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy selected Burra Venkatesham for the position, and the appointment file was sent to the Governor, who approved it.

Burra Venkatesham was born on April 10, 1968, in Jangaon district, Telangana. A 1995 IAS batch officer, he has held key positions such as Secretary to the Governor, Principal Secretary of the Education Department, and Secretary of the BC Welfare Department.

He studied at the Sarvail Gurukula School in the erstwhile Nalgonda district, and his journey from a Gurukula school to becoming a high-ranking official has often been highlighted by CM Revanth Reddy.
