Jagan Faces Another Setback: Eight Kadapa Corporators to Join TDP Today
The YSR Congress Party, already reeling from a significant defeat in the Assembly elections, is facing another political blow. Several key leaders have distanced themselves from the party, while others have already joined opposition parties like the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Jana Sena. Amid ongoing reports of political defections, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s home district of Kadapa has become the latest flashpoint.
Eight corporators from Kadapa Municipal Corporation are set to join the TDP today in the presence of the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. These corporators have already reached Vijayawada ahead of the formal induction ceremony.
Among the defectors is a close relative of former Deputy Chief Minister Amzath Basha, adding political significance to the move. The group also includes a female corporator. With a majority of corporators from the stronghold of Mayor Suresh Babu switching sides, panic has reportedly gripped the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).
Despite Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy's personal intervention to prevent the defections, his efforts appear to have been in vain.
