Free services turned into 'paid services' in govt hospitals in Telangana: Vijayashanthi
Hyderabad: BJP leader and former Medak MP Vijayashanthi vented ire at Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao as the government hospitals, which are supposed to provide free medical services, have become a hub of corruption.
She mentioned the names of several government hospitals in Hyderabad where services are being provided only by greasing the palms of employees. She tweeted mentioning how much is being charged for the medical services at the government hospitals. She alleged all free services were being turned into paid services.
She lashed out at the KCR government and alleged that Rs 800 was being charged for CT scan, Rs 2,000 for MRI and Rs 5,000 for PET scan. She pointed out that slips were being given to the kin of patients stating that they are giving donations instead of bills. She alleged that the hospital staff was threatening those who asked about this and that the whole affair was going on without the permission of the TRS government.
Vijayashanthi alleged that the same scenes are being repeated at MNJ Cancer Hospital, ENT Hospital and Chest Hospital in Hyderabad. She said the MNJ Hospital, which was set up to provide free services to cancer patients, was the only cancer hospital available to the poor. She said that even in such a hospital, the employees are fleecing the poor patients. She warned that the government would face the wrath of the people if they turned a blind eye towards their welfare.
