Women healthcare must get top priority: Telangana Governor
Hyderabad, Sept 28: Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has called for greater importance to the women healthcare. She expressed concern that the women’s health and women’s healthcare are the most neglected in our country by women and their families.
The Governor was virtually releasing the special issue of the Indian Journal of Cardiovascular Disease in Women brought out by an organisation called Women in Cardiology and Related Sciences (WINCARS) from the Raj Bhavan, here, on Monday.
“It is high time that we all as society and as family members give top priority to the health of women and ensure proper medical care whenever they needed. We must discontinue the discriminatory practice of relegating women’s health issues to the back seat,” Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan pointed out.
The Governor also suggested that whenever the approved vaccine comes for the COVID-19, it must be given to women health workers and other women COVID-19 warriors on a priority basis to protect them.
She said that the pandemic was also resulting in many other social and psychological issues among the women and called to address all such issues with care and concern.
The Governor appreciated the efforts of the women cardiologists for coming out with the special issue titled “Consensus scientific statement on advisory working guidelines and recommendations for female population in COVID era,” to create protocols and approved guidelines to take care of the women’s health during the pandemic.
Caridological Society of India president Prof MK Das, TS chapter president Prof. KMK Reddy, Prof. Krishnamraju, WINCARS president Dr. Sridevi, Dr. Jyothsna and others spoke.
