Governor’s team distributes health and hygiene kits in Primitive Tribal Village tribals in Bhadradri Kothagudem

Hyderabad, April 7: As per the vision of the Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan a team of officials-led by Joint Secretary to Governor J. Bhavani Shankar visited pusukunta a primitive tribal remote village in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Wednesday.
 
They have distributed health and hygiene kits and masks, as envisaged by the Governor, to the people belonging to the primitive tribal group Konda Reddys.

Speaking on the occasion, Joint Secretary to Governor Bhavani Shankar said that the Hon’ble Governor has envisioned and initiated a special nutritional intervention programme to improve the nutritional status of the primitive tribal groups in the State.

“In order to end the malnutrition among the primitive tribal groups, a massive survey has been taken up to assess the status and reasons of malnutrition among them. Based on the survey findings, a concrete action plan will be launched,” he added.

As a first step the team comprising officials from National Institution of Nutrition (NIN), Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) and the ESIC medical college visited Pusukunta where primitive tribal people belonging to the Konda Reddy clan inhabit, and interacted with the beneficiaries.

The teams have also launched awareness programmes about the health and nutrition among the primitive tribal people.

IRCS Bhadradri Kothagudem district chairman Dr. Kantha Rao, ESIC medical college doctors Hari Krishna and Ranjith and NIN research scholar Shivudu and a host of local public representatives too took part in the programme.

As part of the visit, a special medical camp for the children was organized by Dr. Rajashekar, who examined a total of 30 tribal children at Pusukunta tribal habitation.
 
The local primitive tribal people expressed their gratitude to Hon’ble Governor for her special interventional initiative to improve their nutritional status and to end the malnutrition and selecting their village for this programme.
