‘World No Tobacco Day’: SLG Hospitals raise awareness on deadly effects of tobacco on health
Hyderabad, May 29th, 2022: SLG Hospitals, one of the leading healthcare facilities in the city, today commemorated ‘World No Tobacco Day 2022’ with a ‘5K Running & Cycling’ event. This event was organized to raise awareness on the ill and deadly effects of tobacco on the health of people; and was inaugurated by Shri. K P Vivekananda, MLA, Quthbullapur Assembly Constituency, along with Mr. Dandu Siva Rama Raju, CMD, SLG Hospitals. Organized in association with Happy Hyderabad Cycling Club and Hyderabad Cycling Group, the event started at 6 a.m. from the SLG Hospitals campus and participants went around Nizampet area, to spread awareness against tobacco consumption.
Commenting on the event, Mr. D V S Soma Raju, Executive Director, SLG Hospitals said, “Smoking tobacco is considered a fad these days, including women and children. The unfortunate reality is that even before they realize, tobacco would have had an adverse effect on the health of those who smoke and those who live with these smokers. SLG Hospitals believe in prevention over cure and has remained at the forefront to create awareness on various ailments, its causes, and possible prevention methods.”
More than 600 cyclists, runners, and fitness enthusiasts participated in the event which started with a morning fitness regimen at the hospital campus. Also present at the event were Smt. Kolan Neela Gopal Reddy, Mayor of Nizampet Municipal Corporation; along with Shri Shanigala Dhanraj Yadav, Deputy Myayor of Nizampet Municipal corporation; Shri Agam Pandu Mudiraj, corporator, 16th Division, Nizampet Municipality and Shri Agam Raju, Corporator, 17th Division, Nizampet Municipality.
