Amongst these select students were Mahesh Gupta (Andhra Pradesh) and Soumitha Bhaskara (Andhra Pradesh), former students of Masai School – a Bengaluru-based Indian skill development institute that is bridging the gap between the demand and supply of skilled candidates for the Indian tech sector job market.
The Honourable Minister took this opportunity to congratulate the students for the hard work and perseverance in their pursuit of achieving a career transformation. Further, Shri Atul Kumar Tewari, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship gave the introductory address at the event after which the honourable Education Minister launched the achievement booklet titled: One India, One Mission: Skill India and ‘Swawlamban Ki Ore: Stories of 75 Skill Entrepreneurs’
Mahesh Gupta who hails from a small village near Hyderabad, before joining Masai, worked in a local mill earning a meagre INR 12,000 per month. With this money, he was unable to pay off his family debts. Now, with the education received and placement secured post completing the course from Masai, Mahesh is a Software Developer in a leading Fintech company, LeapFinance. On the other hand, Soumitha Bhaskara also challenged the odds to make her way as a confident and young web developer. Coming from a Telugu medium, Soumitha, in her college days, struggled with spoken English. Hence, getting a well-paying tech job at a leading SAAS company, Revv.so, was a dream come true for her as her family insisted on her staying in the village due to financial constraints.
Prateek Shukla, the co-founder, and CEO of Masai School said, “There is no better feeling than seeing our graduates being recognised for the hard work they have put in at Masai. We have created a curriculum based on practical learning, which is giving opportunities to the youth from all kinds of education and socio-economic backgrounds to launch sustainable careers in software development. We are aligned with PM Modi’s Skill India Mission and want to make the best use of India’s vast talent pool. Today, Soumitha and Mahesh are inspirations for all students trying to transform their career by skilling at Masai.”
To date, Masai has placed more than 1500 students across 25 batches that have graduated, with a placement rate of over 96% with an average CTC of 7.5 lakh INR per annum.
