Amul launches Fresh Milk and Curd in Vijayawada
- Amul milk is priced Rs. 2-4 per litre lower than other brands
- The launch will ensure remunerative prices for local dairy farmers and high-quality products to consumers at affordable prices
Amul is the largest food organization in India and an outstanding example of the power of the farmer’s cooperative movement. It was born 1946, before India gained freedom, and marked its 75th anniversary recently.
“Amul has become a household name and all Indians have tasted Amul products in one or the other form. It is a proud moment for us to source milk from the farmers of Andhra Pradesh and offer this superfood to the people of Vijayawada. We are confident that the people will incorporate Amul Fresh Milk and Curd into their daily diets,” said Shri R S Sodhi, Managing Director, GCMMF.
The Amul Fresh Milk being launched in Vijayawada is procured from the best breed of buffaloes and cows in Andhra Pradesh, as part of the state government’s initiative to ensure remunerative milk price to milk producers as well as provide healthy, nutritious milk and milk products at affordable prices to consumers through Amul.
Amul’s dairy plant is also located near Vijayawada and equipped with modern facilities to process, pack and store the milk and milk products as per FSSAI standards as well as the highest standards that Amul brand stands for.
The milk will be available as Amul pure Buffalo Milk, Amul Gold Milk and Amul Taaza Milk. Because of the minimum 6.5% fat content, Amul Buffalo Milk has a richer and creamier taste (MRP Rs 32 for 500ml). Amul Gold is full cream milk with minimum 6% fat and provides a sweet feel (MRP Rs 30 for 500ml). Amul Taaza has a minimum of 3.1% fat and is easy to digest, making it a low-fat alternative (MRP Rs 25 for 500ml).
The milk range will be available in 500 ml & 1L packs at retail shops. The economy pack of 6L will also be available for hotels, restaurants, and tea stalls.
Amul is also launching curd in two variants in Vijayawada. The high-fat premium curd (MRP Rs 30 for 425 gm), which is made from standardized milk and is very thick, and Masti curd pouch (MRP Rs. 27 for 450 gm).
